ABUJA – President Bola Tinubu has met with French business magnate, Vincent Bolloré, in Paris to discuss expanded investments in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.

The meeting, held as part of the President’s working vacation, focused on plans by the Bolloré Group to deepen its operations in Nigeria across film, entertainment, fibre-optic infrastructure and other related sectors.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Bolloré Group confirmed plans to increase the localisation of its operations in Nigeria.

Onanuga said Bolloré and his executives also outlined new investments centred on Nigeria, describing the country as a major driver of Africa’s cultural renaissance, powered by the global success of Nollywood and Afrobeats.

The Group’s media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.

Tinubu welcomed the proposed investments, saying Nigeria’s growing influence in the global cultural space presented an opportunity to attract more production, investment and jobs into the country.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting investments that would expand the creative and digital economy, develop local talent and strengthen digital infrastructure.

He also said the government would continue to position Nigeria as a strategic base for businesses seeking to serve the African market and the wider global economy.

According to Onanuga, Tinubu said the Renewed Hope Agenda was focused on building an economy where Nigeria’s talent, enterprise and global cultural influence would translate into greater opportunities and improved livelihoods for citizens.
