Yesterday, Haruspice (Haruna Abdullahi) did not just write an article; he dropped a truth bomb that no honest person from Kogi East can ignore.
His point is simple and direct: “A Senate that parades intellectual heavyweights like Akpabio, Adams Oshiomhole, Abdul Ningi, Sani Musa, Opeyemi Bamidele and other cerebral lawmakers deserves an equally cerebral representative from Kogi East.”
I agree totally. And any sincere mind from Kogi East should agree too.
The only honest option left for us now is to present our best among the contenders. Yes, political parties have nominated their candidates, but the final decision belongs to us — the good people of Kogi East.
If many understood what some of us fought for to see Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho return for a third term, we would never have allowed politics or personal grievances to support those who rose against him. Today, our standing in national affairs is not as solid as it should be. Echocho was one of our sure bets to get closer to power. We may have missed that calculation. I pray we wake up on time and do not allow the worst to happen in the coming election — we must speak loud and clear with our votes.
Truly, the shoes Echocho is leaving behind are very big.
Echocho is a first-class brain — humble to a fault. A gentle personality to the core. Many mistook his gentility for weakness. No. People who are loaded upstairs, especially those with the fear of God, do not make unnecessary noise. Echocho belongs to that class.
Now ask yourself: In the next Senate, what kind of Senator do you want?
The one who will be hustling for contacts and networks? The one who will be talked down and controlled? Or the one who will be the pride of Kogi East? The power to choose is in your hands. Choose right, or remain silent forever and never complain again.

As demanded by the Haruspice article, it is time to unveil the man you have in Chief Ameh. He is a thoroughbred politician who understands advocacy, lobbying and negotiation that produce results. Chief Ameh has the lion heart to go and get Kogi East’s share at the table where it matters.
Intellectually sound, well-read, young, vibrant, and above all, determined to make a difference. His boldness and deep knowledge of politics will cover a lot of gaps. With Chief Ameh at the Senate, whenever men are gathered, Kogi East will not be talked down.
Surely, the days ahead will reveal more about the kind of Senator you truly need. And you will go out happily to support and vote for him.
