A group of former state chairmen of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), under the umbrella of G-37 have reaffirmed their loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling for greater unity within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group made the declaration during a solidarity meeting with the leadership of APC at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

In a meeting with Deputy National Chairman of APC, Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye, and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), G-37 led by Hon. Cletus Obun pledged their continued support for the APC leadership and congratulate the party on its recently elected national officers.

Obun stressed the importance of respecting the contributions of the party’s founding members, saying the sacrifices made by those who built the APC should not be forgotten.

He urged the party’s leadership to carry everyone along in appointment and promote inclusiveness as the party prepares for future elections.

The G-37 leader expressed confidence in the capacity of the party’s new national officers, praying for wisdom, courage and divine guidance as they assume their responsibilities. He also called on the leadership to deepen internal consultation and ensure that state party structures remain central to the party’s decision-making process.

Responding, the APC Deputy National Chairman, Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye, thanked the former ACN chairmen for their solidarity, describing their visit as a strong reminder of the sacrifices that produced the APC.

Nwoye said the ruling party must remain united despite the emergence of opposition alliances, insisting that members should not abandon the ideals upon which the APC was founded.

He noted that many APC leaders came from legacy political parties, including the ACN, ANPP, CPC and other platforms, stressing that acknowledging those political roots should strengthen rather than divide the party.

The deputy national chairman urged members to intensify mobilisation at the grassroots to ensure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures a second term in office, arguing that the administration’s reforms and infrastructure projects would deliver long-term benefits for Nigerians.

He cited ongoing road infrastructure across different parts of the country as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development, saying the impact of the reforms would become more evident over time.

Nwoye also appealed to party members not to become discouraged by personal political disappointments, urging them instead to continue making sacrifices for the collective interest of the APC and the country.

He maintained that the party’s founders deserved recognition for their contributions and called on members to preserve the unity that brought together the legacy parties to form the APC.
