ABUJA
The Nigeria Immigration Service has deployed a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to ease and streamline passport application processes for Nigerians in the diaspora.
The deployment was approved by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who directed the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, to send the intervention team from the NIS Headquarters, Abuja, to the UK.
According to the NIS Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the team is scheduled to arrive in the United Kingdom on Monday, August 10, 2026, and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to process pending, new and renewal passport applications.
The team will also visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, allowing eligible applicants in different parts of the country to access the intervention exercise without necessarily travelling to London.
The intervention is open to applicants with pending passport applications, new applicants and holders of passports with less than one year to expiry who wish to renew them. Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.
The NIS, however, advised applicants not to visit any location until the official schedule for the exercise is released. The schedule will contain the designated cities, dates, venues, enrolment times and other arrangements.
Applicants were also urged to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom for updates on the exercise.

The service also stated that all NIS digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, remain operational throughout the intervention exercise.
It added that the home delivery service remains available to applicants, assuring Nigerians that the Immigration Service remains committed to efficient, transparent and responsive passport service delivery both in Nigeria and abroad
