A member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress and the party’s National Leader of Persons with Disabilities, Tolu Bankole, on Wednesday distributed N10,000 cash grants to hundreds of persons with disabilities, announcing that the intervention would now be conducted monthly.

Bankole, who spoke during the empowerment programme, said the initiative, previously held annually, had been converted into a monthly exercise to provide more consistent support for persons with disabilities amid prevailing economic challenges.

He said the programme was aimed at improving the welfare of beneficiaries, promoting economic inclusion and encouraging greater participation of persons with disabilities in political activities.

Bankole also commended President Bola Tinubu for his economic reforms, saying the administration was working to tackle poverty and stabilise the economy.

“I commend President Bola Tinubu for the work he is doing to ensure the country enjoys the dividends of democracy by fighting poverty and stabilising the economy,” he said.

The event was attended by members of the APC National Working Committee, including the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, and the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, who pledged support for the initiative and expressed commitment to expanding the programme to reach more beneficiaries.

They described the intervention as a reflection of inclusive leadership and called for sustained support for persons with disabilities to improve their living conditions.

The beneficiaries commended Bankole for what they described as his commitment to their welfare, saying the cash grants would help cushion the effects of the current economic situation.

They also pledged support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, promising to mobilise voters at the grassroots in support of the President and the APC.
