ABUJA – The Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Kasim Mohammed, has inspected the ongoing renovation of the abandoned Old Block (Block A) at the council secretariat, assuring workers that his administration is committed to improving their working environment.
The project, which was awarded in 2024, was abandoned after the contractor handling it reportedly left the site.
However, upon assumption of office, Mohammed invited the contractor back to site and directed the continuation of the renovation work.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the council chairman, Muhammad Isah Hassan, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
According to him, the chairman, during the inspection, assessed the level of work on the project and reiterated his determination to ensure its completion and immediate utilisation.
Hassan said the renovation was aimed at creating additional office spaces for council staff and addressing the shortage of accommodation for personnel.
He added that the initiative was part of the administration’s efforts to provide a more conducive working environment and enhance the efficiency of council workers.
