The Jigawa State Police Command has continued to intensify intelligence-led policing and proactive crime-fighting strategies across the state, leading to significant operational successes in the ongoing fight against crime and criminality.
The achievements, according to a statement signed by Command’s PPRO SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven within Jigawa State.
The statement said, ‘On 08th July 2026, operatives of the Command arrested a suspected vandal in possession of vandalized electric cable wires believed to have been cut from behind Hotel Hotel in Dutse Metropolis. Further investigation led to the arrest of suspected receivers of the said vandalized cable wire and other stolen property. The suspects’ and the receivers’ identities are Aminu Mohammed ‘m’ age 17yrs of Fagoji Quarters; Abdullahi Mustapha ‘m’ age 17yrs of Zai Quarters; and Sani Umar ‘m’ age 18yrs of Shagari Quarters, all in Dutse LGA. The suspects are currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation’.
Arrest of Suspected Thief:- In another operation, on the same date, police operatives attached to the Dutse Division arrested one Suleiman Muhammad ‘m’ age 23yrs of Mariri Quarters, Kano State, in possession of suspected stolen items, including one PlayStation 5 (PS5) game console and two plasma television sets with an estimated value of Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦2,500,000.00). On investigation, the rightful owners of the recovered items were traced and handed them over on bond. while the suspect will be prosecuted accordingly after discreet investigation.
Arrest of Suspected Cattle Rustlers: Acting on credible intelligence, on 08th July, 2026, police operatives from Guri Division, in collaboration with a local vigilante, arrested one suspected cattle rustler who was found in possession of three suspected stolen cows hidden in his compound. The animals have been recovered and handed over to the rightful owner on bond, while investigations are ongoing to unravel other members of the syndicate.
Arrest of Drug Dealers and Recovery of 3,427 Exhibits:- As part of the Command’s sustained offensive against illicit drug trafficking and abuse, operatives carried out coordinated raids at identified black spots in Dutse, Gumel, and Kazaure Local Government Areas, leading to the arrest of three suspected drug dealers, namely, Garba Muhammad, alias Dare, ‘m’ 50yrs; Buhari Umar, alias Uban Kasa ‘m’ 25yrs of Dantanoma; and Auwalu Dan Jos, ‘m’ 25yrs of Kofar Tsoro, Kazaure LGA.
During the operation, a total of three thousand four hundred and twenty-seven (3,427) illicit drugs and four blocks of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered, comprising the following:
– Exol – 1,440pieces
– Tramadol – 258 tablets
– Pregabalin tablets – 419
– D5 – 679
– Rubber solution – 80 tubes;
– Indian hemp – 4 blocks and 551 wraps and
– Cash sum of one hundred thousand six hundred and sixty naira (₦100,660.00), suspected to be proceeds of illicit drug sales.
The suspects will be arraigned before the court upon conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in these successful operations for their professionalism, dedication, and vigilance. He also appreciated members of the public for their continuous support and timely provision of credible information, which has greatly enhanced the Command’s crime-fighting efforts.
