…Says North ready to deliver President ‘from A to Z’

ABUJA – The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has challenged Ekiti State residents to deliver at least 800,000 votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Yari said the target represented about 90 per cent of the expected votes in the state, urging APC leaders, members and supporters to intensify mobilisation to secure an overwhelming victory for the President.

He made the call on Thursday during the APC presidential campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, where he commended the people for their massive turnout and support for the party.

Recalling the 2022 presidential election, the former Zamfara State governor said Ekiti residents had given Tinubu significant electoral support when he contested for the presidency, expressing confidence that the state could surpass its previous performance in 2027.

He said, “Last time, Asiwaju, as a candidate in 2022, asked you to vote for him, and you voted for him. Ekiti gave him 80 per cent. Today, out of 1,080,000 registered voters, with over 900,000 PVCs collected, we are looking for 800,000 votes, representing about 90 per cent.”

Yari attributed the proposed target to what he described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration, particularly in education, infrastructure, youth development and economic reforms.

He said the President had not neglected Ekiti State, citing interventions in education, the establishment of educational institutions, road construction, support for young people and women’s empowerment.

The APC campaign chief also expressed satisfaction with the presence of political opponents who had contested against Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji in previous elections but had joined the rally to demonstrate solidarity with Tinubu’s re-election bid.

According to him, the development showed that political differences could be set aside in the collective interest of the country and support for the President.

Yari further declared that Northern Nigeria was firmly behind Tinubu, insisting that the President had demonstrated uncommon political generosity by supporting northerners to occupy the country’s highest office on three occasions.

He said the North was prepared to mobilise its political structures and deliver overwhelming support for Tinubu in the 2027 election.

“From where I come from, Bola is more of us than you in Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Osun and Lagos. We in Northern Nigeria are ready for Asiwaju in 2027, and we are going to deliver him from A to Z,” he declared.

On the economy, Yari challenged opposition parties to explain what alternative policies they intended to introduce, arguing that the Tinubu administration had recorded progress in tackling inflation and reducing food prices.

He compared the current prices of major food commodities with their previous costs, claiming that the prices of food items, including millet, sorghum and maize, had dropped significantly.

The former governor also pointed to improvements in economic indicators, including inflation, foreign exchange and balance of trade, challenging opposition parties to present alternative solutions to the country’s economic challenges.

“We are going to campaign with our numbers and what we have done for Nigerians. Based on that, we are asking Nigerians to give us a second chance,” he said.

Yari maintained that the APC would base its re-election campaign on the administration’s performance and measurable achievements rather than political propaganda.

He thanked Ekiti residents for their reception, saying President Tinubu was following the developments at the rally.
