ABUJA — The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, Olugbenga Agboola, as the Nigeria Police Force National Youth Ambassador.

Disu made the appointment during Agboola’s investiture at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, as part of activities marking the 2026 International Youth Day National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment Initiative.

The appointment, according to the Force, was in recognition of Agboola’s contributions to technology, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and youth development.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the police and young Nigerians while promoting peace, cybersecurity awareness, responsible technology use and constructive civic participation.

The IGP said young Nigerians remained critical partners in efforts to build safer communities, adding that the police would continue to explore innovative ways of engaging the youth.

Disu said, “Our commitment is to treat young Nigerians as essential partners in building safer communities. By highlighting positive pathways through education and technology, we can steer our youth toward meaningful national development.”

He urged Agboola to use his influence among young Nigerians to promote integrity, responsible innovation and lawful use of technology, particularly amid growing cyber-related crimes.

The IGP also disclosed that the partnership would focus on bridging the gap between technology and modern policing by improving the digital capacity of young police officers and strengthening their knowledge of cyber-related investigative techniques.

He said the move was necessary to enable the police to respond effectively to emerging forms of criminality driven by advances in digital technology.

Responding, Agboola expressed appreciation to the IGP for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to support initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, cybersecurity education, peaceful engagement and national development.

Agboola attended the ceremony with a delegation of associates and business leaders, including the Chairman of Stanel Group Ltd, Dr Stanley Uzochukwu.

The appointment is expected to deepen collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, the technology sector and Nigerian youths in tackling emerging security challenges and promoting lawful innovation.
