ABUJA – The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC), Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has continued his nationwide consultations with traditional rulers, visiting the Emirs of Gwandu, Katsina, Daura and Zaria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The consultations form part of efforts by the APC campaign council to strengthen engagement with traditional institutions and build consensus ahead of the presidential election.

Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District, had on Sunday led a delegation to consult the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Kolapo Sulu-Gambari.

According to a statement from his media office, Monday’s visits took the delegation to the palaces of the Emirs of Gwandu, Katsina, Daura and Zaria.

The statement described the visits as part of a broader consultation with traditional and political leaders across the country to build consensus and mobilise support ahead of key campaign activities leading up to January 16, 2027.

During the visits, the royal fathers offered prayers and blessings for peace, unity and the success of Nigeria’s democratic process.

Speaking during the engagements, Yari said consultations with traditional institutions remained a key component of the campaign council’s strategy.

He explained that the delegation was not seeking political endorsements from the monarchs but their prayers, blessings and wise counsel, noting that their moral and spiritual guidance remained vital to the country’s political process.

The former Zamfara State governor stressed the importance of maintaining cordial relations with traditional rulers, whose influence and contributions to peace and stability remain significant across the country.

The APC PCC also reaffirmed its respect for traditional institutions, describing them as important partners in promoting national unity, peace and stability.

The council pledged to carry all stakeholders along in the build-up to the 2027 general elections.

Among those who accompanied Yari on the visits were former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff; former Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; former Kebbi State Governor, Senator Adamu Aliero; former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Sani Ahmad Yarima; and former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

Others included former Gombe State Governor, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, and former Katsina State Governor, Barrister Ibrahim Shehu, among other party leaders.
