ABUJA – Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, has dissociated himself from the Atiku Abubakar and African Democratic Congress campaign team after his name was listed as a member of the former Vice-President’s Policy Team for the 2027 presidential election.

Moghalu, in a statement, said he was neither consulted nor gave his consent for his name to be published as a member of the policy team.

He stated categorically that he was not a member of Atiku’s policy team, either officially or unofficially, and had no advisory role in the former Vice-President’s 2027 campaign.

“For the record, I was not consulted and did not give my consent to my name being published as a member of the ADC candidate’s policy team.

“I am NOT, in fact, a member of Atiku’s policy team, even unofficially or in any advisory capacity,” he said.

The former CBN deputy governor also disclosed that he had quit partisan politics in Nigeria since 2022, stressing that he had maintained a non-partisan posture in the country’s national affairs.

“I am not a member or sympathiser of any political party in Nigeria,” Moghalu declared.

According to him, his current engagements are centred on public policy and geopolitical risk advisory, as President of IGETAfrica, a non-partisan public policy think tank and executive education academy, and Chief Executive Officer of Sogato Strategies LLC.

Moghalu said his commitment to Nigeria’s development should not be interpreted as partisan alignment, adding that he had chosen “the path of statesmanship, not partisanship.”

He therefore reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of Nigeria but maintained that such commitment did not require him to align with any political party.
